I’m still pretty new to cannabis, so I’m trying to learn from people who actually know what they’re talking about. What strains, products, or beginner tips would you recommend for someone just getting started?
I’d also love to hear what helped you the most when you were first learning, whether it was choosing the right strain, figuring out dosage, or just avoiding common mistakes. Any advice is welcome.
I tried growing organic first, but I didn’t know enough to get very good results. I switched from soil to coco-coir with Greenleaf Nutrients MegaCrop 1-part, and have stuck with it for almost 5 years now, with great results, growing in coco coir. The only products I’ve needed were MegaCrop and pH Lower. After you get growing then experiment with growing in soil if you want. I use a cheap Milwaukee Instruments pH pen. There’s my 2 cents worth of advice.
Substrate: Coco if you don’t want to guess when you should feed/water because you have to feed every day
Nutrients: tons of good stuff out there and they all work, I think it’s best to decide soil or coco first then shop accordingly for nutes.
I think what has helped me the most is using the Tray2Grow by Autopot. Automatic feed so the plants eat what and when they want instead of relying on me. Also eliminates having to remove waste water, makes growing super convenient. Total cheat code.
Lots of great journals to read in here and to get a feel for consistent practices that growers use even though details like nutes, substrate, light etc are different from grower to grower. Ask everything! Many people here are very happy to help. Good luck growmie
All good replies so far. Organic soil will give you the “best” quality product. Hydro will give you the most yield the fastest. Quality can be close to soil and its still fire smoke if done right.
Strains are personal choices imo. My advice is to figure out what and how you want to grow. Once you know how youre going to grow find someone to mimic. Either an influencer or grow journal whatever but it needs to be detailed from start to finish. This allows you focus on the plant and not think about all the other stuff.
@PeaceLoveBuds has great advice with the autopots or there are SIP systems too. Both are ways of automating the watering and feeding depending on the route you take. Also great because they allow you to watch and learn the plant. Theres a ton of variables to growing but being able to read the plant is huge.
A smaller very easy to grow plant with Christmas tree like structure. I’ve only just opened the plant up for training and haven’t topped one yet, but that’s changing on the next run.
There seems to be enough CBD to help relieve inflammation. I do think there is quite a bit more THC than CBD, only because the live rosin can fade you out hard. Also makes a good infused oil and one of the plants on this next run will get made into a tincture with my new alcohol extraction machine.
The absolute simplest way to grow cannabis for the first time grower is in an Earthbox.
My methodology of growing in the earth box is based on Jeremy of Build a Soil methodology. With five or six ingredients total, you can grow very good cannabis.
