Washed river rocks in a metal water heater drain pan. Should keep it from getting soggy on the bottom if I overwater and catch runoff if needed. It fits perfectly in a 2x4.
Filled up! I have not added the potting soil yet. I put a solo cup worth of mosquito bits into each bag as a fungus gnat preventer. Hopefully I won’t see any but BTI is always available after.
20gal pot and blumat! Im right there with you in a 15gal for the Gushers run Im starting. Whats in the system you got?
Dont remember where I read it maybe AFN but Ive seen marbles recommended in place of the rocks. They let you rotate the pot a little easier I guess. Rotating the pot might not be the best with a blumat carrot installed tho.
The BluMats? It was the 8 or 10 pk of the 5" spikes with 2 of the longer 9" spikes, a drip ring 10" I think, and a bunch of tubing, connectors, etc. It was a semi-custom one off Amazon. Just weird suggestions that were cheaper cause it stacked like a kit. It was like $145 all in, kinda steep but I like what I read.
Hi! Welcome to the forum and thanks for the heads up!
I mixed some mosquito bits into the soils. I expected fungus gnats out of one of them. I also have some BTI powder on hand if I start seeing them again.
Allright I gave it a 2 day soak and it looked like the seed seam split. Into a coco pellet, and I waited ~6 days with no visible action. I went digging. I am impatient.
Removed a very thin layer to see if this one was going to grow. Seed shell came off easy, have to see if it stands up or not.
Pulled the netting off and into the final pot. I have not hooked the drip ring to the Blumat Tropf yet. I was waiting to see if I had the “rate” dialed. If you plug in the ring, you can’t see if it’s dripping, running, or what. Couple days and I’ll push it on the pin.
A few others had germination issues with this one for some reason, I just did a germination test on all 4 batches and got just over 90% success. Ive got a few in cups going now to see how they handle the seedling stage. Others testing didn’t seem to have any issues. Ill keep an eye on this, hopefully she gets up n growing for ya.
Yeah, I remember seeing that, hence I went digging but I should have just waited another couple days. If this one doesn’t make it I’ll do a different germ technique.
I’ve had really good luck with plants that started off rough.
( I’m so fucking amped to try that killing fields x ohz x W2G next)
@Jean-O - I popped another one in case this didn’t make it. I had no germ issues at all. I’m 2/2 on these. The second one popped easier than the first. I did use a drop of peroxide in the soak. The second one also exploded out of the starter pellet and had a huge stem. So they are viable and vigorous.
The second one germed much easier. I put the starter pellet on the hotter side of the router. Seemed to work good. But yeah wanted to let you know, germ issues 0.
I pulled the second one cause it was so spindly but it did germ.
