As promised, here’s a journal of @LaughingHyenaSeeds version of Purple Domina.
I completely forgot the humidifier for a week after planting the seedlings. This slowed establishment and one of them lost one of its two first true leafs.
Along for the ride is an “accidental seed" from Strawberry Nuggets that I harvested over 2 years ago. It is not a vigorous plant so far. We’ll see how these 2 plants do.
The other 2 Purple Domina plants have established themselves.
Interesting leaves on the PD’s, not nearly as fat as I’d expected. BD practically grow umbrellas for fans! Gotta be the Skunk genes, they tend to express strongly in crosses…
Explosion of growth the last couple of days. Keep it coming girls!
To top plants 1 and 3 or not….if I don’t I’ll have to raise the nuggets up towards the light. The nuggets….already showing that thick mane. Hopefully the foliage is a bit easier to manage than last time.
First dose of Silicic Acid today. Total PPM aprox 450.
They will get their first foliar chitosal in a few days. Typicaly there’s a boost in vigor a day or 2 after.
I wonder if its these lights? I’ve grown Pink Kush clones from the same nursery and leafs were not as wide as previous lights. The buds were as expected.
In this case, it could be the “moment" in breeding or phenos?
Regardless, its fun to grow and if I get pain relief and some good zzz’s Ill be happy.
It very well could be, finger width is affected by more than just pheno expression. I’ve seen plants that varied a quite a bit in this, particularly between older lower leaves (from early veg) vs. uppers… higher light PPFD hitting there, and in general they tend to thin down especially in bloom (talking about fans here BTW)…
Lower light produces wider leaves in other plants too. Winter leaves on some of my orchids are broader built compared to the more prime time grown leaves…
The leafs are a bit wider than they were but far from dinner plates.
This makes me wonder about the impact of other environmental factors on leaf shapes ie heat humidity etc.
These lights are pretty hot, and the rH in my home is 40-55. I can see how less surface would help reduce moisture loss.
Week 4+ish
I think its time for some defoliation and maybe training. Though with my arthritis I’m tempted to see what they do untrained….I’m less interested in Yield than Quality.
First Pistils on the Purple Dominas.
Below is the taller plant. Sorry about the purple. All 3 got the bottom ⅓ defoliated and the central stems were supercropped just enough to give branches a chance to catch up.
Yup l was right. Unfortunately yesterday, when I couldn’t take the stairs, the girls went thirsty. Photos minutes after fertigation. I really should teach my wife how to mix ferts and feed them.
I irreparably broke a branch off of plant 3. ![]()
The SN is still very slow…but hey, if a free seed gets me a ½oz then it’s a free ½oz.
Even though they’re thirsty I gave the 2nd foliar chitosal ½ hour before feeding and a 15 second shot of co² for 30 min duration after feeding.
Flowers are begining to form ![]()
Enough verbal runoff. Heres the pix.
Weekly report
Things are progressing nicely. I figure the Purple Dominas are a little past halfway. The Strawberry Nuggets is developing very slowly so it might finish at the same time which would be convenient.
SN tends to be a smaller strain, she may still do just fine. The other girls, OTOH, do not look headed for small.

The Strawberry Nuggets that I grew a few years ago were small, but much larger than this one.
They were grown purely hydroponics so that is a factor too.
This was the the one accidental seed that made it. Slow from the start. I figure that the seeds were not harvested or dried right considering they weren’t planned so whatever she gives me will be great.
Bleaching. A bit of canoeing.
I wasn’t watching for a few days and the taller plant stretched to 8” below the lights!
Fixed it.
Some day I’ll have a dimmable bar array but this COB set has plenty of life in it.
8 weeks today. Miicrobial Mass day. The girls are having a rest from bigbud and I’ll start the overdrive soon.
They are chunking up nicely Vita’, and throwing ‘Domina’s trademark resins out too! …some of that leaf warping is also characteristic of Domina as the trich’s start to smother the surface…
How are they smelling? I’ve been chatting a bit with LH in email, nudged him to get over here and start posting ![]()
Yes, get him here! I’m very happy to see more of the old members and breeders coming back (not age necessarily lol).
Bulking phase for sure.
These seeds and plants are vigorous, I can see the love the breeder put into it.
The tall purple pheno is a little bit less stinky but it’s much closer to the lights…
The shorter of the 2 green ones (front right is on a box to raise it) has the strongest smell and the most trichomes.
Scents: Sweet earth. Floral with a touch of pepper. Not sure but maybe a hint of linalool which is terrific. Reminds me of old school afghani but sweeter. I’m certain I’ll enjoy this!
