I had mentioned I was going to be going out of town for eight days.
The problem I had was that my dehumidifier ran out of water in just about two days.
So that presented the problem-
How do I keep the humidity in the tent proper while I’m away?
I have a neighbor that also grows, but if I could avoid anyone coming into my house when I’m not here, I would like to.
My first idea was to set up a camera facing the Vivosun reservoir, and have a 5 gallon bucket with a pump in it hooked up to a Vivosun smart plug that I could turn on and off from my phone.
The concept would be look at the video, if the reservoir was low, turn on the pump for a minute or two to refill the rest for and then turn it off.
But that just screamed “ water all over the floor while you’re gone”
So I present to you, my solution!
I took a 32 gallon trashcan from Walmart, flipped the lid over, zip tied it to the handles so it wouldn’t slide around, cut a small hole in the lid to run the tubing through. Attached a little bit of extra hose to the Vivosun humidifier head… and voilà!
I present to you with the 32 gallon humidifier!
In the next picture, you can see the Aerosteam H19 (19 L/5 gallon) reservoir next to it for comparison
And then some proof of concept before I moved it into the room just to make sure it worked.
Should be plenty to last the eight days that I’m gone!
But I do not leave until next Thursday morning, so I’m going to run it until then just to see how it works and handle any issues that arrive before the trip!
