Bloooo! Where ya been luv? You have been very much missed! I’d toss a hug at you but all that’s on the malfucktioning (yes, spelled rightly) old PC and my choice data marooned in kind… New one is plain bare…
Yeah, many basic features are different, behave differently or just gone… others baffling indeed, like Discourse just HAD to be fucking different with some things, breaking what ain’t needed fixin’…
So, PM’s: click on your avatar and look for the familiar envelope icon; that’s the “PM/DM”… 2x click that and it takes you to the DM page…
There’s two different Chat things here, one private the other a general room type…neither are used much, or at least the latter. LS is still the Hub! 
Emoji’s didn’t translate over for shit as you see… The usual ones we like from old AFN can show fine if downloaded from you directly, but the damn software won’t let you place it in-line next to your text unless it’s the very first thing in the new line… otherwise it forces it a line down…
There is a pretty good tutorial for Discourse here, but Hobbes will have to bump you to admin status to access it first…

I came in yesterday, had a quick chinwag with aunty - but my first post in LS was moderated - I oculd not believe my flipping eyes!! Silenced!!!
I’v not even looked at discourse - i had a discord .. umm It’ll be fine!!
I sent hobbes a load of messages - seeing as he so kindly welcomed me to look around , perhaps even make a post - it was very lovely and i was youched so i wrote a book back to him (that’ he’ll never read becuase he now probably has 62427 unread messages in the inbox - lucky lad)
