Hello my fellow stoners,
I am off to the races with Nancy’s Own Garlilocks ΔG.
Here’s the most recent pic
From her site:
Auto Garlilocks ΔG gives you the delta-G you need to reach outer space! GMO chem funk combines with 3 Bears OG’s dank muskiness to bring garlic (nerolidol) out in most phenotypes.
So ya, I cannot wait for this one to grow!
Here’s the setup:
Medium: Sunshine Mix #4
Pot: Fabric 5 gallon
Light: 450 watt SideKing set at 50% for now (24/0)
Water: Well Water PH’d to 6.5-6.6
Nutes: Not sure yet, any suggestions???
She sprung up over night, so I will call this day 1.
Here she is in all of her beauty…

Yeah buddy!
What is the delta-G ? Fun with the name or something in the plant?

Day 5 I think..or 6…
She is coming along nicely and has her first set of “real leaves” coming in. So far it has been hand watering her with about a half ounce of water and hitting it with my spray bottle. Nothing too special, but she is on her way!

Day 12
The second set of leaves are coming along. I
Not much else to report on. Just sitting back and watching the grass grow for right now as she builds out her root structure.
Thanks for stopping by

Day 20 I guess
She’s growing out her second set of leaves and starting on her third. So far she hasn’t been a problem, and you kind of worry those first couple of weeks. But I think she’s right on track, maybe a little small, but I am happy.
She’s a little yellower than I like, so I may give her some worm castings to start feeding her now.
Other than doing a little top dressing with worm poo, what else would you recommend?

Depends on how you plan on feeding your plants
Some great items from buildasoil would be:
craft blend
build a flower top dress
big 6
rootwise
That would be a good starting point if you plan on going organic and want to feed teas and/or topdresses.. maybe some coconut water occasionally, some insect frass and definitely a bit of organic blackstrap molasses
alternatively, Gaia Green has some powdered organic top dresses that ive seen produce good results for a decent price (none of it is cheap) or you can opt for a few of the countless liquid nutes available

Day 25 and no progress.
I don’t know what I did, but it’s stunted and I am calling it quits on this one.
I expected a much bigger plant by this time. Oh well, back to the drawing board. I’m gonna drop another bean tonight and get another one going again.
Thanks for stopping by!

@Nancys_Own , am I being impatient?

It’s getting a little bigger. Try letting the soil dry back a little bit, unless you’re taking pics right after watering if it’s always that wet it will drown and never get going and damp off. Also isn’t Sunshine #4 totally inert? I thought it had 0-0-0 npk ratio. If that’s the case I’d be feeding it after the first few days to a week. Germinate another bean or two and try again. By 25days it should be way bigger than that. I wouldnt kill it. Like I said before it would be awesome to see how it turns out if you can turn the grow around or not. Great for learning,.

I use a basically inert soilless mix that I recycle and re-cook between grows. But I use liquid nutes so I can control what they get from the start. I thought that’s what sunshine #4 was like.

I can’t grow in soil worth a shit so I’m not much help. I just went and looked up your soil. If it’s this:
They say: “Start your own feeding program within 14 days of planting or seedling emergence.”
“SunShine Mix #4 is the growers choice for a professional light weight growing medium. We include a multiple strain mycorrhizal blend, so you achieve maximum results. After the first 2 irrigations you will be in total control of your fertility program.”
Inert mix is a perfect make-your-own
mix base
You might have starved it if you haven’t added anything to the soil. You could buy one of those soil amendment packs from Build a soil, mix it in, wet, cook, etc… and be ready to go in a few weeks. Or pick a different soil and start over. Dang.
If I were you I would restart and add liquid nute feed since the soil is empty. The long way would be to cook some “organics” into the soil. Some paths to take but I think you are right to start over. I don’t have the space for letting soil cook so I run coco. Chemical growing but easy and compact.

Soil is wet because I took the pic after watering it a little. The only thing I added as far as food is some worm castings.
I have done it the same for years..wait until week 3 to start feeding. I’ve always used the Fox Farm trio. Guess I am going back to that.
Thanks for all of the advice.
I did end up starting another seed from Nancy’s staring, so I will just keep this thread going.

Just cause it’s still that cold-ish time of year: What’s your soil, water, and air temps? I had some trouble for a while until someone said my water was too cold. Been keeping my irrigation jugs warmer and I think it helped. Same with pre-heating my pots. ( I mean I just load them and stick em’ in the tent a couple days before planting.)
Water temp out of the tap here is still only 50f and it was barely in the low 40’s last month. Not freezing but probably cold as fuck to plant roots.

She does look hungry. I’ve been using Greenleaf MegaCrop 1-part. I like that it has everything in it so I don’t need a bunch of products. So far it works out to about $1 per plant per grow. I’m in coco, so watering to runoff every day. It would be a lot less in soil. because you wouldn’t need to feed very often. Last summer I ran 2 plants in coco on a 3rd floor deck. The runoff was running down a lower roof into a rain barrel I use for my veggie garden. The veggies grew like crazy. I checked the ppm in that barrel and it was about 100, as opposed to the other rain barrels which were under 10 ppm.

But, the new seed cracked and went into the dirt this morning.

Dude, if you want a real easy grow, then try Earthboxes.
A member had followed my my methodology for Earth boxes on the old site and got quite good results.
Simple ingredients
Build A Soil 3.0 media
Build A Soil Craft Blend
Build A Soil Build a Bloom
Quality earthworm castings…NOT Big Box doo doo!Build A Soil sells EWC by a local guy and while pricy, the quality and life is there.
Build A Soil sells Rootwise, my go to inoculate for a couple of years
Coast of Maine Lobster Compost
That’s the bare ingredients for a quite good grow.
I have set procedures laid out in how to set this up to ensure a smooth transition to where all you do is water.
There is only two top dressings, and the first one is when you set it up. The next top dressing is one to two weeks into flower.
The setup was specifically designed with autos in mind, so there should be absolutly NO Stunting… Naturally if your environment is correct.
This methodology that I’m going to teach to fellow disabled veterans, when it becomes legal to grow here in Shadow Land.
Greenleaf MegaCrop 1-part is VERY easy and produces quality results fer cheap and would work fine with what you currently have.
I used Pop22’s 500-550 TOTAL ppm at EVERY watering. I stuck to pH 6.0-6.2.
