Hey everyone, so now that have transitioned into the new site a bit; I wanted to make sure everyone understands where things are at now and the distinction between the two sites.
First and foremost, this is the link going forward to access the old Autoflower Network forum: https://autoflowernetwork.community.forum/
-
The old, original forum (where we came from) is hosted on Xenforo forum software.
This new site (the one we are currently on is hosted on Discourse forum software.
-
Your login from the old forums will NOT work on the new forum.
These are two totally different software, each with their own database and credentials, which is why you have to create a new user account.
You can even use the same username and password as the old forum (with some caveats, Discourse doesn’t like spaces in the username.)
-
Your login for the old forum (the Xenforo-based software) still work.
-
The old forum is now set to read-only. What this means:
- You cannot create new threads
- You cannot create new posts or reply to posts
- You can still access your private messaging and private messaging still functions as normal (left on in case users need to contact staff or each other on the old site for some reason.)
-
The forum will exist going forward as an archive of 15 years worth of data and information relating to autoflowers, our grows, and simply existing together as a community.
-
We are attempting to NOT prune content when and where we can. Some pruning occurred (because it had to occur) to try to keep the file size down on the backup (which is currently still massive, but I’ve shaved over 200 GB off so far.)
That said, we may have to prune some content.
-
And following that, we are now looking at creating a “content curator” team for the old forum, which would consist of a small group that had some elevated privileges to be able to tag things, move threads where they need to go, etc. Essentially sorting the data and making it easier to find and crawl.
-
The old forum will exist as long as it’s funded.
Some caveats:
-
When we recently changed DNS settings for the autoflower.org domain to point to our new Discourse site, this has caused issues with some cached browser settings with your internet browser, where the site still thinks it’s pointing at the old Xenforo forum.
So far, it seems that simply clearing the cache on your browser fixes this.
We have tested the new domain with Firefox, Chrome, Edge, and Safari, and have no issues loading the forum or the autoflower.org domain in them with fresh installs.
-
Because of the cached settings; it appears that some password managers likewise think the site is pointing to the old Xenforo forum. If your login does not work when you auto-fill your credentials, try manually typing them.
If that still does not work; there are options to send a password reset; or any of our staff would be happy to help assist with this.
