.Like the autopot, the tray fills until the valve stops it but then the mat absorbs it. Pot sitting on mat then absorbs that. I like it because the entire bottom of pot is wicking, as opposed to the autopot which uses an airbase with holes for wicking. The pot is actually submerged in water while using an autopot so you need the one inch high airbase to keep substrate just above water. With the tray I don’t need an air base, an air dome, or the air pump and the pot is easy to remove from the tent. This is an air base and you can see the holes for wicking
So the basic answer @KingRatt is that the pot is submerged an inch in water when using the pots so a mat is useless.
Hell yeah
. No need to waste Coco.
Well that’s my plan. I like 1 gallon pots. They seem like the perfect size when filled to the brim.
With all the autopots these days, why does nobody growing nor even talk about nft anymore? Sure we have the res to stay cool, but same issue occurs with the autopots. But other than that, killer results if you know what you’re doing.it’s more unforegiving but anything you try for first time will cause headaches, even handwatering…
Anyway, the tray2grow somehow is cool. Next year I want one for my veggis ! For the sets , i don’t actually know what to choose there without regret ( too big, too small, too unflexible) or buying them all (too expensive aka reason for divorce, lol).
The standard kit comes with some cool veggie accessories and if using outdoor there’s a hole on side of the tray for drainage in case of rain. Comes with a plug if using indoor
Day 38..same beans different structures. Never did lollipop, they’re just running wild. It’s not from laziness, I just think it’s cool to watch. Small or big, every bud site eventually weaves its way through traffic to get light and it’s fascinating to watch in real time if you haven’t personally trained or shaped the plant. I’ll eventually pluck a few of the super tiny branches but mostly just going to let them go for it, leaners and all.
I run in 1.5 gal pots of coco. However, by the end it is difficult to water as the entire thing is roots. No room for media to hold water. Gotta do the multiple time a day short watering sessions. Larger pots leave more room. 1.5 is enough for quicker autos for sure.
Killing it again dude! Those plants look so happy.
Thanks bro
i think there’s gonna be a lot of leaners from left plant. She’s growing great but she’s got some skinny ass legs. Right plant 3” shorter and a trimmer diameter but she’s got weightlifters legs. So I guess we have mom dominant and dad dominant which is great!
Never thought of that angle before, great point
Under 2gal about, I would say is that point lol.
Day 41…still stretching but hopefully almost done (grew 9 inches last 4 days) then I’ll do a nice lollipop/defol. It will be nice to get them out of the tent for that because I haven’t touched them since the early leaf tucking, I’m just a spectator
next post should be solo shots of before/after the defol. Defol is fun because I finally get scissors in my hands and it’s like a clearance sale, every fan must go!! ![]()

I removed a crap load of bottom branches, dont need the bud or the trim jail. The tent rh dropped from 70 to 48
so I can turn off dehumidifier for a while now. I forgot about pics until I was done with the first one so first is just an after shot of #1
and some root porn
Those girls are going to go crazy. Lookin good!
That’s some serious defoliation! I’m too chicken to go that far lol!
I was too for a couple years so I get it believe me!
Day 51…healthy and happy
responding nicely to the heavy trim and abundance of light. I got rid of like 50% of these plants that day
They would be absolute beasts if left alone and netted or supported. If anyone wants to grow a pound plant this seems like a great candidate. One plants first and second nodes are just a couple inches shorter than the main, if they stack nice they should be pretty cool looking. I dig watching them form the canopy, here’s a pic of nodes 1 through 7 with a max height difference of 1.5 inches
I’m going to do a 50 day photo dump for future me, thanks for stopping by ![]()
Looking fantastic in there! Again, great job on the pruning the other day.![]()
