I know I said that I was gonna be starting a grow a few weeks back before we fully switched over to discourse but Ive decided to hold off for a bit. Im making a somewhat large change to my method and will be switching to 15 gallon pots with 100% organic living soil, and until I get another bigger tent it will be limited to 1-2 plants per grow.
This grow Im thinking will be just 1 Dutch Passion Kerosene Krash. I was gonna go 20 gallon but with my limited space I think 15s will be my limit if I want to do more than one and as far as I can tell with KK I don’t have anything that fits the bill as a tent mate and since I only did a 3 pack Im only growing 1 to start with to see how she does.
Set up will be the same Ac Infinity 3x3 with the S44 board light and 6" exhaust kit with the 6" refillable filter.
Soil is going to be build a soil 3.0 in 15 gallon rain science bags. They arent ideal for organics but Im gonna do my best to make them work since I have them and I may try a clover cover crop with straw covering too to keep moisture retention as good as it can get. When the soil comes its game on and Im ordering that this Wednesday. Hopefully will get here by Sunday. Will update when seed is sewn.
Will be growing photo kerosene krash. I might work in some autos eventually as I have a lot of freebies.
What Im trying to do is see if I can make the 3.0 a water only, with no top dress but I think 15 gallon is just a hair on the small side, I may need to top dress at the flip
Well my Dutch Passion Kerosene Krash seeds came in earlier today. A day early which is nice, but with shipping I spent $137 bucks on 3 seeds, and NO freebies is kind of a joke. Im not saying DP doesnt make a good product and I know KK is a very sought after strain but I figured I would get at LEAST 1 freebie for a $140/3 seed order. I guess from now on I will order from seed banks. Then I can pay the exorbitant amount for these seeds and still get freebies.
Sounds like a solid plan. I recycle my soil because a 7 gal is typically root bound after 90 day auto runs. I re-amend the tub and let it bake for 6-9months and will use indoors and outdoors.
@Cannaficianado hey man, if you edit a picture into your very first post, it will create a graphic on the main forum index for everyone to see to click into your journal. I highly recommend doing this!
So it looks like rain science doesn’t have grommets in their 15 gallon bags anymore and yes I know I can just buy a kit and put them in myseld but Im just gonna stay in 10 gallon for this grow. Its a hair on the small side and I may need to top dress twice during the run because of it. It saves me a little money as I thought I bought 1-15gal bag a while back but I never did. Also ordered straw and white clover to help keep the moisture in the smaller bags.
Soil is ordered. 2-1cu ft bags on the way, should be here in 10 days. Luckily I had a amazon gift card from my birthday last week so for 2 bags on Amazon it was only 80 bucks which is a steal. Too bad it will still take almost 2 weeks to get here.
Since the delivery period is so long this weekend the tent will get is scrub down from the last run and I may change the carbon out on the filter but its only seen 1 grow so far so I may just leave it, but if the KK gets super stinky like I know it will I may refill once I can smell the gas outside the tent.
According to FedEx my soil will be here tomorrow and my straw came today, cover crop here by Thursday. So I should be all set up and waiting for germination by Saturday night
So the cover crop is running a little late. Was suppose to be here today but its coming tomorrow.
Was gonna fill up the 10 gallon last night when I got off work but the soil in bag definitely needs some moisture. They aren’t DRY but they definitely aren’t organic soil wet.
So since the cover crop will be here tomorrow and probably after I leave for work I took the time to order a chapin 2 gallon pump sprayer. I had to go cheaper than I wanted so its a poly tank but brass wand and nozzle and its chemical resistant so its good for gardening.
The plan now is to run and get my spring water reserves tomorrow morning, pot up the soil, hydrate and let it wake back up till Saturday/sunday, then I will sew my seed, cover back up with straw except around the seed and once its sprouted Im going to sew in the cover crop. I want it to have a a week of 0 competition.
I have not but Im not sure if Ive seen yours, I looked through a bunch of journals on the old platform a while back and knew I wanted to try it out. Im hoping it performs well in the set up Im planning.
10 gallon bag is potted up. Rehydrated with about 1.25 gallons of water. Soaked it up really nice, saw a couple drips so I stopped. One bag was about 5-10 lbs heavier so I used that full bag and topped it of with a 1/3rd of the other.
Tapped it down and gave it a light pat then gave it the water to get the microbial activity zooming, covered in straw except the spot where I plan on sewing my bean. Cover crop is going on tomorrow, gave it a heavy covering of straw got the clip on circulating air very lightly and the exhaust pulling at about 30%. I want that water to get fully absorbed before I do anything. Will be checking the weight in a few hours but heafting it now its close to 60ish lbs.
So all in all set up is complete just gonna give it a couple days to wake up.
Not standing up yet but germinated nonetheless, she’ll probably be standing up by the time I leave for work today, If so Ill snap another pic. 3.5 days is a pretty good germination time tho.
Edit:
Adding some environmental info. Still a little chilly so Im running a small space heater around the tent. Otherwise environmentally everything’s great. Without the heater it was sitting at 65°F which is a little cold. I want this grow chugging along and warmth will help that.
