NIGHTQUEEN's Dutch Passion Grow Adventures

Hi, finally I made it over and start reposting or continuing my grow journal from the old page.

Pic above: 2025,Night Queen

So here’s a brief summary of what happend so far, for convinience for each plant/genetics individually…

On December27th 2025 I started a RTC Auto by Dutch Passion.

The idea was to try the 420autoflower method not just in fragments, however I screwed up the lightlevels, the dif also came into play negatively and that plant stayed very bushy, with near no spacing inbetween nodes. A scrog would have been a bush in a 4 -9 squares with no effect , so i screwd it.

Still fun seeing her growing, plant really had a rocketstart on rockwool.

She started showing pistols around day 35-36. Not that much of a stretch. All in all she really gave me a hard time to control her, had to take out a good lot and could have taken away way more. Anyways, she’s not my best grow and probably win the price for lowest yielding 420autoflower method plants, but damn this thing smells like a petrol station and cheap china plastic fumes , it’s sticky as hell, even though she doesn’t look overly frosty.

Will keep her going for a few more days, might even give the lower half another 2 weeks on top.

One thing i noticed: flora nova bloom seems to be loaded with much n, too much for my liking.

Next update: the SMC

Glad you made it! What makes you think flora bloom has too much nitrogen? Also, “ petrol station and cheap china plastic fumes”, is that a good thing?

Thx for your comment. Well, look at that dark green - she turned out a bit too leafy and before switching to t.a. ripen final part 2 daxs ago, that tips even curled a little. the flora bloom itself, i don’t like it’s messyness, it needs a ton of shake and that cap always more leftovers in it running along that bottle,… Stupid disgusting stuff… maybe it’s just this RTC not liking it, but 1.3 ec isn’t that much.

The smell, it’s fine, gassy…i just suck at giving it a name or find the right words for terps. It’s always catpiss, fuel or floral  if I ‘m lucky i might be able add a oldschool to that smell description…

SMC - the SlushMintCake by @antonio / DutchPassion , one of the strains I was really waiting for - the bx1 was stuck into xmas mail and I was impatient and bored by xmas season, so I popped 3 fem SMC instead, and rescheduled the bx1 reg run for another few month.

Anyway, seeds germinated within 1-2 days and on 27th December 3 little plants showed up. They needed a little help to let go of the hull.

I did the mistake with the stupid starter pots. Usually I start all seeds in 1/2 l plastic cups with a trillion holes in. The tiny pots had too much water once, and while the RTC skyrocketed in the rockwool cube , the SMCs stayed way behind in their coco swampland.

Just in case January 14th i popped a control seed , which took off as normal. So we solved the ridle together in the old 420autoflower thread, Mongoose and GasPlease pointed me into the right direction with the RTC’s compactness reasons - too much light (65DLI), no difference day and night temps. Switching back from 24/0 to 20/4 and reducing output slightly, at 40-45DLI all plants seemed to prefer it. At week 4 of the pheno 4, all plants equaled height .

I had to let one go, and also that RTC had to leave the tent as space is limited. I also had a few greenhouses on the tents floor, tomatos, peppers and other veggis, which is a side hussle each spring. Since I had space in the first month, that was fine, but they moved over to the other room.

I kept 2 of t he first SMC and that later one,SMC4.

The SMC 4 is n a 25l pot, the other 11l each. Thirsty they are.

Last week on Wednesday March 11th the 12/12 cycle start, 3 ladies now under the net filling up squares… so 8-9 more weeks to go…

I’ll add a few pics in the next post…

I think she turned out great. Lookin thicc! I noticed the bloom N too. After the gorilla cookies finishes I’ll have used enough of the bottles that I wont mind throwing it away and I’ll be switching to dry nutes.

Exactly, messy stuff, though i must say the veg part of nova did great and- other than with tripart - no calmag issues. But i take calmag issues over messy bottles, lol. Seriously, thought about dry nuts too, but I still have 3x5l of that tripart juices and that will do for a long time. I really gave nova the try only because 420autoflower recommended it and the starter set nova + final part was a nicer deal with 18,00euro compared to the 14 for a single bottle final part ripen, which I needed anyway.

I agree, she turned out quite nice, or nicer than i expected. Especially given the fact i gave up on her somewhat around day 50 when there was ton to take out , that it hurt. But the buds are kinda small and i should have taken even more. Now she won’t bring much weight to the table nor the prettiest buds. But that luckily wasn’t the goal. The lower half just needs more time and with that density under canopy light actually could have helped.

Honestly, I am still really looking forward to end product. There’s a slight hint of purple hue , smell changed a bit also (less like a punch-in-the-face this morning).
Feeding no bloom but ripen only now shows, first leaves get cannibalized already.

I’ve just started an Auto Red Tropicana Cookies, so I’ll be coming in to check if you don’t mind!

You’re welcome and feel free to share your thoughts. Would be interesting to see if and how yours will perform. Mine had this extreme expression switch, from typical Night Queen /indica leaves in veg to superthin sativa fan leaves during bloom.

Left the early leaf around day 40, right a smaller fanleaf , that’s taken day 81

All in all it’s a forgiving plant, given the fact I stripped, strangled and tortured her more than too much in every aspect. She grew vigorous and after defoliation bounced back fast, mostly as if nothing ever happend. That NQ part inside my pheno , undenyable…

So you’ve made a great choice with the auto rtc, enjoy the grow!

Lots of colorchanges towards purples on the RTC during past few days. The lady is thirsty and having switched to final part for that few last days probably was the right decision at the right time.

SMCs on Day 9 of bloom / 12/12 cycle - all fine and healthy.

They filled the scrognet in absolute beast mode and the bad start seems to never have happend. Defoliation needed again.

Need to upgrade my reservoir in this room/tent - they drink too much and I hate mixing nuts twice a day. So there’s a to do for the weekend. Also took some clones a week ago from the lower half below the net, - from branches that won’t make it too the top in time -, just in case one of them might be worth keeping. And to ensure airflow under and in the lower part of the canopy.

Kinda good day today also for outdoor - prepared some beds for vegetable, strawberries and one of DP’s outdoor suitable genetics. Still unsure which one exactly.

Tiny update on the SMCs Day 12 after light switched to 12h/12h: first signs of pistils. All squares filled.
One of the 3 seems a little more stretchy. Took out few oversized, light blocking fanleaves again, adjusted the distributionin the squares, moved one of the 3 fans below the canopy.

Anyone got an idea for an affordable under canopy light unit?

RTC auto on day 87 does well, she’s getting 3-4 more days now with some extra stress and then call her ready for harvest - after a final photography session  .

With the RTC leaving soon, it’s time to choose a replacement for the spot - what will it be? Pretty obvious what it should - a good old standart Night Queen. Sadly just a very few seeds remaining and the germination rate of my kinda old fem beans is far below average. But no, not going for the Autoflower option…

@Antonio : can we please have a NQ fem drop soon? It’s too sad to have her gone and forgotten.

Here is an image of the June 2025 NQ grow short before harvest.

I miss her too, one of my personal favorites of the collection, ever. I fully agree with you its sad she is gone and forgotten, I’ve been working on a few projects for this year, but maybe its something I can put in motion for next year. Because I loved her just as much as you do I think :face_savoring_food:

Day 14 of the SMC - Comparing the opening at tent’s backwall with the last image gives a rough idea about the 2 days progress - they are stretching hard now. Lots of pistils now on all 3. Again the note to myself: 2 plants are enough for this small tent.

The one on the left is pheno4 - the one I’ve seeded 3 weeks after the delayed first 3.

The RTC is a little purple beauty. Her buds though are not very big nugs but still plenty.

@Antonio at least you are still aware of the Night Queen and embed it here and there in your projects. I was more interested in seeing the potential NQ expressions wihin the RTC Auto, than the RTC itself.

With one of the few purer/pure indicas in the DP lineup,DP should not loose or let go of the NQ - in my oppinion. We grower shouldn’t loose accessability to the contemporary classics, which are replaced in favour of modern hypes and trends (like that usa trend). I get, it’s just marketing and money is the evil anyway. The modern trends will eventually change but classics stay classics - as long there are people , who remember those positivly , or even glorify them for what they are (and aren’t). But if classics are gone, we get myths only and nothing to show to future generations of growers.

Okay, sidestory of yesterday today: me vs the china tent…

I bought a 50 bucks veggie tent. Tried to puzzle it together. Nothing fits. 3 hours later, i gave up for today. 3 broken plastic connection and one metalbar trashed. Seriously, new tent hold together by gaffa tape…wished they would have included a roll or too… at 5:30 am, it’s raining and i don’t saw me going out and put together the rest. But it needed to be done as soon as possible as I’m running out of pregrow space indoors with tons of tomatos and peppers. So i did. Cover on top, short coffee break, hail and stormy wind incoming from nowhere and bam…. Tent blown on side, more damage… seriously, don’t buy cheap china shit…. I should have known better.

Night Queen is just SO good. A bona fide classic!

Yeah, she’s really my no1. Good medicinal value for me. Probably have to make own seeds from my few remaining fem beans.

I hear you and I feel you too, unfortunately I’m not the one turning the tables and making decisions at DP, I just work for/with them….. If it was up to me, I would have not let her go at the first place. But it is what you say mate, lots of the hype, and less focus on the old-school, but I’m sure things will change again, and tbh I’m doing my best to hopefully re-introduce some new classics in the future as well. But first things first, got a whole new line that is about to drop, and about 5 other fems that are coming and need attention. But rest assured I will work on a few classic strains/lineages as soon as I get the room for it! :oncoming_fist:

just saw that cream cake popping up on Insta. And sure, you guys are busy and doing great in what you do - no critic from my side. Business first! Yet I’m looking forward on those classics and would love to see your take eventually on a NQ v2.0 or a rerelease of NQ v1.0 one day. Thank you for keeping her in the back of your head as potential future project  HUGS!
