Both the ladies are out of the shell. One thing Ive done different this time is the heat mat. Last try I was feeling pressured to start and things were kinda chaotic which caused me not to follow my procedures. I started with them on the mat but then I needed to put the pots in tent and took the heat mat out.

Ive left the lights at 11%, as low as they will go, so I can get a little bit of stretch out of them. My normal method is to give them high dli right off the start but I want some more clearance around the pot this time. Raised the tall one to avoid too much stretch. I’ll be checking in frequently today on the older lady looking for that taproot to come out the bottom of the plug. Once I see that I’ll move her onto the tray for air pruning.
She finally did a thing! I was ready to call it quits on the air pruning. I didnt want to risk it anymore and just get them in the soil. I even watered the pots and started getting the res, plumbing, and blumats ready last night because I was planning to get everything in soil tonight. The 2nd one still hasnt broke out the bottom but now Im going to give her some more time.
Living soil and blumats is a solid combo for a single auto run. The consistent moisture helps avoid the typical wet/dry swings that can slow them down during the stretch. The 5gal gives enough room for the roots to fill out before flower kicks in. Keen to see how the Painted Lady handles the LST in that setup.
Yeah can’t go wrong with the blumats. A lot of people don’t realize hand watering causes some stalling. Like mini resets every time you water.
Ive got big dawg sitting between two ladies so there will be some group shots sometimes. And if youre following both grows then you will see some of the same pics in each topic.
Got everyone moved into their new homes. Painted ladies are on day 6 above ground.(left and right)
Approaching the 1.5 week mark for the autos in the 2x4. Just a group update today to make it easier on me. All the girls got their first cocktail and a fresh trap. These pots are pretty bad with the gnats so I’ll show the damage in a few days.
1gal RO water. 1ml power si, 2ml mr fulvic, 1/8tsp raw yucca, heaped 1/4tsp raw kelp, 1/2tsp bas amino acids & cal boost, 1tsp rootwise complete, 1 big tbsp wdg3000
Let’s go homie! I’m curious to see how the air pruning works. I like the idea in theory but really want to see it first hand. I’ll probs try some that when I. Not on any deadlines lol. Good luck on your grow Homie! ![]()
Im avoiding an update because Ive been shitting the bed with these ladies. Ive kinda been checked out mentally from the grows over the last couple months now. After 15yrs at my job my position and pay are uncertain. Not in a bad way but the situation is forcing me to make decisions that could have big impacts. Not trying to get into all the details but lots of stress and anxiety lately. Havent had my head in the grow game.
Anyways I made a mistake with my lights and my humidifier has been going out on me adding to the problem. Damn thing keeps saying its out of water when its not. So its been dry and the lights were 100ppfd over what I thought I had them at. Poor things have been getting fried and I just let them for 4 or 5 days. Made some adjustments and they seem to be turning the corner.
Think this is day 18 above ground.
Oh yeah a group shot of the traps. Ive left these in since the other day. The numbers have dropped a lot tho. The last couple days the traps havent been getting much worse. I’ll throw fresh in tomorrow when Im in there.
The ladies look pretty happy and healthy, mine are also pretty short. I have faith tho, for how small they are, they are getting branchy as hell! I hope everything works out for you. Stress and anxiety are two bitches I can’t stand! Sending positive energy your way! Take care Homie.![]()
Appreciate that!
Decided it was time for some lst. The taller and 1 day older lady is really making up for lost time. Her stem is about the size of a no2 pencil and just starting to get a bit woody. She didnt want to bow before me but in the end they always do. You can see Ive used multiple pins, not just for the main stem, I also positioned the other branches. Youll notice the 4 lower branches bent back towards the anchor wire. These branches will do their best to fill in that side of the pot while the top of the plant will be spread out on the other side. Top half needs the laterals to grow a little before I reposition them.
The shorter one is still too compact for the multiple pins. I just gave her the 90° bend hoping the laterals grow out then I’ll space them out like the other plant.
