Are you getting better bud development on the lower nodes with the additional lights? Like allot better or a little better? Thx, nice looking plants!

It does help, itll turn popcorn nugs into fully developed buds. This is my third grow but that being said i notice the difference when i turn on the undercanopy lights. I just got the side lighting yesterday but im noticing its giving direct light to areas like some leaves/ calyxs. Calyx do photosynthesize so im curios where this will go

Couple updates since addition of chitosan and salicylic acid. Theyre starting to look like they are collecting dust but its cool its just trichromes.

Quick update. Nothing has changed, except things are frosting up. The chitosan/SA spray seems to work

What are you using? Is it a foliar?

I like that description for the trichome progression, dusty!

Yep its foliar. It also has some fulvic acid and a plant surfactant with chitosan and salicylic acid. Its in a fine mist sprayer and i only apply it lightly to avoid mold and rot.

It seems to make a difference because every time I’ve applied it across the grows and it immediately increases trichrome production.

I found something concrete for you. The lower buds are super frosted there they receive light which happens to be on the underside of the leaves for the lower Bud sites and the upper sides for the higher bud sites. Which might explain why the sides are becoming more frosty too with the addition of side lighting.

The first picture is a zoomed in screenshot of the second picture. It shows the leaf where the underside receives light with the upper side doesn’t receive as much. It’s more frosted on the underside than the upper side. But as I move up the plant towards the top things change

And if you click the third photo, you can zoom in and see just how frosted the under side is

Excellent! I’ll have to give it a try.

Welcome Burritomann :waving_hand:

The chitosan/SA product that I use states to use foliar 1 week prior and 1 week after bloom starts. After that it’s root zone only.

Either way it will promote trichomes through the 2 SAR channels.

I’m reluctant to spray anything on buds for fear of mould, rot, or smoking shelfish/whatever is in the spray.

Yeah i hear you and i know its not recommended. I made it more concentrated and I spray it super lightly and it’s a fine mist and I have really good circulation in my tent. So im risking it, i get it.

Just some photo updates. How many more weeks do you guys think are left? I’m new to growing and I haven’t developed that sense yet. I’m guessing roughly 2 weeks? I’ll be checking the trichromes for cloudy/amber to guage but im curious how far it looks visually.

She’s about four weeks into flower now

Another update since it looks slighyly more frosted. We’re starting to get fat and sassy. And there’s some interesting smells coming from these. Kind of does has a grapey smell to it. First three photos are a week ahead of the plant and the next two photos. But the flowers on the plant that’s a week behind actually look more mature. I haven’t checked trichromes yet but the hairs are turning red, and the flowers are getting plump.

Looking good. I’d say another 2-3 weeks. They say trichs are basically the plant making its own sunscreen.

Looking good gromie! The light is at the end of the tunnel!

I’d say 3~4 more weeks. One thing new growers always have to learn is that if you think its ready, wait.

It’ll be easier waiting once you’ve built up your stash, trust me.

If you have a powerful lupe, and you know what effects you are after, judge by trichome maturity.

Not all strains amber.

Other strategies include taking a test bud and quick drying. It’s not going to be smooth but you can get an idea of the high.

You can also note whether odor is increasing or decreasing. The more volatile terps like limonene are the first to go. The change can be drastic overnight.

Daily update. I’ve been noticing the day after day more of the leaves to start to curl upwards so it’s been about three days and I finally checked the DLI and my light got turned up so they were sitting at 70 DLI. I don’t know why that happened. Turned it back down to 45.

EC is 1.

There’s a photo that looks confusing. That’s because there’s a light coming from the bottom. But not the top..

I’m starting to trim some of the leaves out of the way of the Bud sites. I don’t know if you can see that in these photos or not this is just a note

A note that you can see - trichromes are starting to get so big. You can almost check the color with these photos.

Im always leary about trimming leaves late in the grow. The cut spots can become areas where mold can grow.
