Twenty20 Mendocino // Triks Auto

Recreating my prior thread from the XenForo software. Plant is finishing up right at the transition point so abbreviated but will contain the finish.

Hey all, time for a new plant and a new thread. Going to try a Twenty20 Mendocino Triks auto. I have no idea what a “Kush” is like so I browsed around the vendor section until I found and auto that listed kush as the main lineage. I’ve had a couple good recommendations for Twenty20 so let’s give it a go!

Breeder site:

Mid week update

Day 25 - Middle of week 4

Topped & trained & evidence of the verge of flowering.

I cut the head off and the lower limbs, focusing on 4 main branches. Hoping for some really nice and focused buds this time.

Pistils showing

Day 41. Tomorrow starts week 7

Week 7 Day 43

I looked at the calendar wrong. My last update was off by a week. This is actually the start of week 7 today.

I banged the light with my elbow right before the shot and dropped all the cords and wires. I was too annoyed to wind them back up so just took the shot. Meh. did it after. shoulda retaken it.

ok I recounted to be sure and today is day 55. Almost week 9.

Big jump in size

Update! Day 69 (haha) End of week 10

I was going to get the microscope out and check trich colors but USB issues. Standard USB on the scope. No USB port on the new laptop. Waiting on the old laptop to charge now so I can plug in the scope and scope it out! hahaha awful jokes… Pic time

4 main large colas. Right side is blocked from view. Left side is tipping over from weight. Front one got all the leaves trimmed off since they were pressing against the door and sticking to the buds. Back one looking good but a lil windburned taco on the leaves. Almost done so not worried about it.

Day 70 : T20 says 70-84 days and they are spot on. You could definitely cut now and be ok. In the window for the next two weeks.

Trichome check with the scope. Looking clear to milky with very little amber. I think there is too much clear still so I’ll check again in a week.

Day 75 - In the harvest window

The 4 mains all flopping over and have been secured with wires

Right side that usually gets cut off

The center. This area should be very interesting at harvest. Without the 4 tall mains around the edge I’d still be pretty happy with the buds in this zone.

Close ups

Trichome color check

I’d say mostly milky and it looks like I’ve caught a couple turning amber. Debating taking it down today. If not it will have to wait 5 more days before I have free time to chop. That means at least one more batch of nutes has to be made. If not I can cut tomorrow AM before work. Ugh…… refill or cut, refill or cut……

Decisions decisions.

And Cut!

Day 81. I checked the trichome development today. Saw a lot more ambers and not so much clears. I think it was ready. Real easy chop. I had trained it into 4 big branches. Only took 4 cuts into quarters.

Spent some time trimming off the fans and tips of the sugar leaves. Hardly any undeveloped buds down at the bottom. I did clip a few of the very lowest bud off. They were crowded around the stem and I didn’t think they looked worth keeping. They seemed wet enough and dense enough to cause mold too.

Final pics:

You can see the fans yellowed out pretty hard. Thats from Mammoth P. I kept a bottle going and add 1ml/gal the last 2 weeks.

Frosted up pretty good

And todays trichome development pics:

Cut, cleaned, hung. 4 big branches with a couple arms on each. No larf and almost everything was developed well. Turned the light off and set the RH to 56%, temp is steady at 65f. I may bump the RH up to 60 in a couple days, the plant is pretty heavy and dense so I don’t want to chance mold. Get a little jumpstart on the dry and slowly bring it back up.

@ArnisNweed - Finished. Final weight and pics coming plus a smoke report. But yeah man, easy peasy grow. Looks like a decent amount too.

Allright I think things are dry enough to trim and bag. I used a wood moisture meter to check the buds themselves. It was recommended from @Hotfire .

I understand that the meter should read around 9% but mine were saying 6-7%. So a little past the sweet spot. Everything felt pretty dry towards the tops but the bottom buds felt spongy. So I’m guessing there is a little more than 7% and Im gonna roll with it.

But first:

First bag: 84.2g

Bag 2: 87.5g

Bag 3: 67g

Total weight: 238.7g or 8.4ounces. Just over half a pound (0.525)

Some trimmed up shots. I can see that I need to retrim a few tighter.

Trichome coverage looks pretty dense in spots.

It really hasn’t got much smell. Even doing stem rubs there wasn’t much on the fingers. Mostly a strange light soap scent. Just sampled a bit. Hits nice, flavor is a bit of coffe creamer? Literally the most generic version of this:

But that is with 0 cure time and likely a little wet. There was no sizzle and it ground up easy so I think it’s in range for RH. I’ll update as time goes on and let y’all know if the flavor and scent evolve.

TL:DR - 85 days, 1/2 lb, smells like soap, tastes like generic coffee creamer, no cure time yet.

Looks dank man! I would usually go for 10%-12% then trim and bag. I will also throw a hygrometer in the bag of buds to verify the desired humidity of the bag 58%-62%. You can technically start trimming between 12%-14% on the moisture meter but only if your stems are snapping. If they arent snapping off the main branch wait a little bit. Main branch is not snapping usually at this point but the small branches should snap. I’d just keep an eye on the humidity of the bag if you do trim and bag between 12% and 14%. If you live in a dry climate it can sometimes take a day for the bag to reach that humidity so dont trip if its low the first day or so. If its higher than 62% just open the bag for a few hours till it goes down. I’d recommend getting a multi pack of small hygrometers from Amazon so you can have a few handy and not just rely on one reading. Kept them all over my grow area for consistent readings.

Really just depends on the size of your harvest, cause if you have alot to trim and want to sample a few bowls or joints, 12%-14% is fine to start trimming and sampling as long as your stems are snapping when you bend em and are not fully bending or shredding when you pull them from the main stem. They dont need to shatter off completely, you just need to hear that snap and youre good to go.

Good shit tho man wish I could smoke rn cause those buds look fire :fire:

Week 4 cure time update - The effects are nice and almost all head. I don’t feel heavy or lazy at all. Just a nice relaxation. It eventually puts me to sleep about 2 hours later. No stank no taste development. Just a very light generic creamer flavor to it still.

EDIT: Probably best for edibles at this point. I do not mind the smoke, it’s just nothing special. Hmph, I may have to re-evaluate this strain at a later date. Maybe give it a run in organic living soil and once I get a cannatrol for a full re-eval. Eliminate myself from the question as much as possible.

The buds look fantastic it’s a shame you aren’t getting a lot of flavor. Have you tried to brown bag cure.
