Hey a 4/20 update!

Day 32 - middle of week 5.

Still throwing tons of new branches and lots of leaves. Did another light defoliation. This one needs it every couple of days it seems like. No problem, slightly high maintenance plant.

Pistils have shown up. I thought I saw some on Day 29 but definitely fully out there today. 5 weeks is a little long on veg time and we are still shy of preflower but I expect this might be a large plant.

On the short side, leaves lots of headroom for the stretch if it goes crazy.

After defol and pulling the main side branches back down

And some nice white hairs!

I did a quick scroll back through but didnt see pot size. Then I remembered the summarize button! It didnt find anything either.  . Anyways pot size for reference point? Also thats a great candidate for 420scrog. Easy lb if not 2lb with all those branches.

It’s a 1.5gal of coco coir.

And yes, I was thinking it would be a great strain for a 420scrog with the amount of branches it’s thrown everywhere. I was not planning on giving that a try and did not prepare for it. If I run this again I will.

Today is day 36, I gotta take some pics. I am about to think this one is not going to auto. I haven’t seen any sign of flowering yet. I’ll check and take some pics tomorrow. I looked at it a couple hours ago and I’m on the fence about a couple spots. Hope it resolves one way or the other by then.

Day 36/37 - I took the pics this morning which is day 37, week 6 started yesterday

Overall plant is growing well. However, no signs of flowering yet. So I think I am going to flip the light schedule to 12/12 and see if we can get this plant moving.

I’d expect to see signs of preflower at day 25-35. I see none yet so I don’t believe this one is going to auto.

Lovely bush:

It’s been 3-4 days since the last defol and I hit it again. Lots of wet spots between leaves, removed several spindly inner branches.

Some of the tips, I do not see any signs of preflower.

Going to wait 4 more days before changing the light schedule. Also getting a net and going to give it a semi-420scroggin. Get those branches spread away from each other.

Day 41 - I started testing the branches the other day but @frankthetank was correct. We are too far along to drop a scrog net. They are too stiff at the bases.

I had considered changing the light schedule but I’m glad I waited a few more days. I see the start of pompoms in a couple spots. Long veg for sure. I probably would have gone shorter with a photoperiod and already flipped. Interesting strain.

Despite multiple defoliations already it needed another one. Still throwing tons of small side branches. I clipped many and took off a lot of fans. There were a many wet spots from overlap even with 2 fans.

Pull back one of the top branches and it’s an absolute packed jungle

I’m wondering if the frequent defoliation could have delayed flowering? I have noticed it seems to slow down the initial bloom for those who defoliated early and often. If so would be a great trick to extend the cycle.

Hi, Nancy! Very possible. It’s an extremely vigorous plant. I’m really enjoying the grow so far. This strain is a beasty grower. No nute issues and it looks great everytime I crack the tent open.

I didn’t see much information available on this one so I hope my thread does a good job for anyone else considering it.

Honestly I’m just impatient!

I’m vague on purpose. There’s not enough of these for everyone so I’m catering to the ones who are willing to take a leap of faith with me. Iykyk if not fafo! I do list both parents and thank the breeders so you can find the right rabbit hole.

From what I’ve seen and read, I’m glad I did!

Day 50, Week 8. Stickin to the plan.

Bumped the bloom booster for this res fill. Checked runoff PPM and it was up to 1150. Been feeding at ~750 range. I manually ran the pump and checked ppm a few times until it got back down to the 900s. Added more time to the timer, should help with rising runoff ppm. 30sec every 6 hours.

Plant looks good and I don’t see any burnt tips. I don’t want to back off the strength since the plant is growing fast. So push more volume.

Did another defol and removed the small spindly suckers.

Day 62 - End of week 9, almost week 10

Got another haircut. Took off fans and clipped more small suckers. Some had gotten pretty good size but were finally big enough to find.

Nutrient ramble:
Gave two weeks of the Jacks Bloom for the transitory period into flowering. Not a full dose, half with half regular A/Epsom/B. The leaves always get crappy looking from it. Got some rust spots here and there. Back on the regular feed now.

Experimenting with dropping the N since things are looking slightly overfed. Cut the CalNit from 8g to 4 and added 4g soluble gypsum. If things get wonky looking then the gypsum is either not strong enough or isn’t available to the plant. I could add calmag easily. I;m already pushing the Mag with the epsom salts. Easy swap. Have to see what it looks like in a week.

Aight ramble over.

So I remember and don’t have to look it up again:

CalNit is 19% Ca and 15% N
Soluble Gypsum is 22% Ca and 17% Sulfur

Almost a 1:1 swap with the calnit on the Ca

if Sulfur gets too high I am already pushing the Epsom,

Magnesium Sulfate is 20% Mg and 26% S
