Well, I’m a big dummy and didn’t think to take pics during my 3 week internet outage.
Nutes update: For reference it’s all in 4 gallons of RO water
Been running the homemade “low N blend” with the Jacks.
4ml silica
12g Part A (5-12-26)
4g Epsom. (Mg/S reduced from 5g)
4g Soluble Gypsum (S/Ca)
4g Part B Reduced from 8g (15-0-0) Cal-Nitrate
It seems to have worked and without issue. I could drop the N even more if I switched to the other “Part A” from Jacks with 0-12-26. The current one is 5-12-26. Maybe next run I’ll buy a bag of the 0
Last two weeks coming up and it’s on the Jacks Finish 7-15-30 @ 17.5g with 4g Epsom salt & 5ml silica.
The only blemishes on the leaves are from the transition week with the Jacks Bloom. Always happens. Minor thing.
The real update -
Day 85 - Developed a lovely purple color and good size since last update. I wish I had thought to take pics but just blanked out on it since I wasn’t getting online.
Coco Coir. I can’t seem to sort out a soil grow yet. The coco has been the easiest to understand. Keep the pH and ppm in range, water to runoff, check runoff, & that’s it.
I’ve got an automated irrigation system and it drains into the basement sump which pumps out into a flower garden.
I honestly think despite the medium level of upkeep that it’s the easiest thing for new and new-ish growers. Plenty of coco specific nute lines out there and I even did ok with the megacrop 1-part.
I keep hearing about people having problems with soil, deficiencies, lockouts, etc. I don’t get it. The recipe I decided on and use for soil and nutes seems to work for every strain I grow, it’s 100% repeatable, and I haven’t had a single issue. I don’t water to runoff, and I only ph what’s going in. Super simple and I have yet to run into an issue. I feel like coco coir is more work, great results and fatter yields but a lot more work, basically hydro, if I we’re to try coco, I think @Dankstyle-J and his living coco seems the easiest. I don’t know. I’ve been kinda stuck at 1.5lbs in my 3x3, if I can increase my yield per plant I would be super happy but I’m stuck at around 4zips dry per plant on average, I’ve pulled up to 6zips on plants but that’s not my average it’s my high. It’s also probably got a lot to do with genetics and the weather too. I’ve also been stocking up on genetics from breeders known for having bigger plants , like Speedrun and Night owl. From the look of it @Nancys_Own has some good sized plants too! I picked up a pack of her Dr Manhattan MD and will be running that as well. I plan on starting as soon as the Brother Mendel tester beans show up. Aside from some fast buds for Mama it’s all gonna be new breeders fore, pretty stoked!!!
Dude, and I feel the same way with coco! hahaha like what is goin on! My environment is stable and dialed. Just gotta work on my dry/cure. Coco is dead easy with medium maintenance which, really the work is mixing nutes consistently.
I pulled 8.4oz from my little 2x2 on my last run. Coco for yeilds for sure.
I’ll eventually get the soil working. I think it’s probably the best for boutique high end final product. Which I am after, be happy with 1-2 oz of better buds. I don’t need much.
You would think with my microbiology experience Id be better at managing dirt and microbes! hahahaha
I’ve got microbes brewing at the moment. pH check today was down to 3.7, it needs to get to 3.5 before I can use it. I’ve got a Jean-O photo in soil but it ain’t doin great. Probably the soil isn’t “ready” despite being CoM Stonington and BaS 3.0 blend.
Yo @Nancys_Own - Thanks for taking a look at my plant! It is fucking gorgeous in person. Can’t wait to try it. Getting soooooo close.
If you ever wanna try my recipe I’ll post it up again or send it to you. I really have it set it and forget it right now, even my little 4oz plants are getting me a lb and a half with six of em. Im really gonna try to up that next run. I’ve never run autos naturally, without tying down the main and a little lst. I think I’m gonna let em go natural and see if that upset my yield. I guess we will find out together lol.
I did get over a pound with six plants in a 2x2 all of em in 2gal fab pots. Just under 3oz per plant. It was tight but not crazy. Threads still up on the old site as far as I know. I think 2x2 tents are my favorite to grow in, I would rather have 4 x 2x2x4 tents than a 4x4, I guarantee I could pull more weight with less wattage. At least with autos
It’s definitely easier not changing my medium not even removing all the roots cuz those are microbes food just reamend feed fermentation teas you can add any thing it all will feed the microbes no ph no weird deficiency’s on leaves just living coco that gets better every time
