Well here we are on the new site! I closed out my other journals and ready to get going on a new grow.
I’m a small tent hobbyist. In the past I would grow up to four plants in my 2.3x2.3 tent. Since changing to the EBJr and scrog ,I’m only doing one plant at a time. Risky business! Something goes wrong and you’re f’ed. Fortunately, I haven’t had any issues on my EBJr grows. My previous grows produced 6.5 and 7 ounce harvests. That more than meets my needs by allot! For this grow I’m doing an old friend, Blueberry Mazar. I’ve had good success growing this in the past. My yields were around 90 grams. So, I will be interested to see if my new grow style brings better results.
I condition my own organic soil with Build a Soil additives, red wigglers and organic matter. I also add worm castings, Dynamyco and LABS. I’ll add a little Vitamin C to off gas the chloramines. I follow the basic plan given to me by @WildBill. The “plan” is to keep it simple!
So far, she’s off to a good start.
It was from Homegrown Cannabis. Some of the first seeds I bought. I have many other interesting seeds but I want to see if my EBJr yields better results. Thanks for stopping by!
I’ve started filling the reservoir after drawdown. The plan is to wait until the reservoir is empty, wait about 12 hrs, then refill. This should encourage the roots to grow into the reservoir. I no longer top the plant. I find it unnecessary with scrog net growing. I tied the main stem down. I want the lower branches reaching upwards asap. A little bit of leaf tucking. Adjusted the dli to 30. That’s about it! Thanks for stopping by.
How can you tell the res is empty on the EBs? Can you see in the fill pipe easy? This might be a dumb question that is obvious once you have one in front of you.
She’s doing great! I’ve been letting the reservoir run dry before refilling, to encourage the roots to grow. I’ve been adding LAB to the dechloraminated water. I added aeration to the feed tube. I added the scrog net. This plant is growing fast. Very much ahead of my last two EBJr grows. Thanks for stopping by!
I gave her a top feed of Megacrop (.7tsp/gal) and nematodes. I did some mild defoliation to keep the center open. Also, removed some lower growth to concentrate growth and for air flow. I’m happy with the progress. Thanks for stopping by!
I got the screen design off Redit. Very simple using PVC, screws and Masons line from Home Depot ( or almost any hardware store!).Kind of a funny story: I was at HD and went to the fasteners aisle. I set my basket down and took a deep breath. They have about a million types for screws etc. i was ready to spend some agonizing time looking for the right screws because, of course, you can’t find anyone to help you! I looked up and the first thing I saw was the exact screw in the exact size box I needed! I actually had to look at the box and compose myself for a few minutes. Take the win whenever you can.
Day 42: going easy on the nutes. One dose of Megacrop this week. I’ll be preparing a top dress of compost and BaS bloom this week. I’m defoliating the center stems, leaving the outside fan leafs. I add the removed leafs to the worm bin. You can see all the worms from the hole I dug. Cover it up and forget about it! They munch them down in no time.
Day 60: I’ve been away for a week. I think she’s gotten a little bit out of hand. Tomorrow will see a major defoliation! I gave her a BaS Bloom/ compost top feed last week. Straight water while I was away. She seems pretty far along for 60 days. I’ll post some more pictures after her hair cut tomorrow.
Major time and space fail! In my haste I miss labled the plant as Day 60, it’s actually Day 54 today. Normally, this would logically be attributed to too much weed but I haven’t been smoking this week. Proof positive I should smoke more!
I did a major deflation today. I could do more but my back and fingers got sore. I’m impressed with her progress. Checking my own journals shows her to be way ahead of previous efforts. Very pleased with the scrog net. You can see all the buds developing from underneath. Just water, LAB and some molasses going forward. Thanks for stopping by!
Day 63: she seems to have slowed down. I checked my old journals for this strain. One went 12 ,the other 13 weeks. This one seems close to done at 9 weeks! Mostly cloudy trichomes with a hint of amber. I’m thinking one more week to harvest.
Day 69: Harvest. This one went fast. Previous Blueberry Mazar grows went 13-15 weeks. I’m not complaining! The only real change from my previous EBjr grows was the addition of aeration. I have a plan for more improvements to the EBjr , stay tuned!
For my next EBjr grows I want to make two improvements. First is to add a screen on to the reservoir cover. You can see the amount of soil that made its way into the reservoir. I did very little top watering and was careful to not overwater. Still the reservoir filled with soil. Towards the end of the grow, the reservoir would take about half the amount of water. So, Ive added a screen, held in place with hot glue.
The second improvement was to add diffusers into the reservoir cover. Really easy to do. Again, a little hot glue to the rescue!
I was very pleased with the root development. Maybe it will be even better next grow. Thanks to my EBjr mentor @WildBill
