Scrog question

So I’m going to do my first Scrog grow. I like LST and typically Bend her over at node 5. My question is should you bend them over if you are going to scrog them?

Yes bending them over is part of the process of weaving or tying the branches to the net.

So no bending before they hit the net:+1: thank you

The net should be as low as possible and still be able to work from below. 9-11 inches for me.

Ps. Autos don’t scrog well compared to photos.

Oh snap so maybe I’m better off with LST THEN?

Oh no! don’t let me talk you out of it. @420autoflower has a method that is amazing it is just way to much work and you need a big space for each plant. I think he is over 3 pounds now! It is more than a SCROG and it is HST+.

Have I mentioned how lazy I am? I just do the minimum Top above the 4th or 5th node, remove dead leaves then in late flower lower leaves for air flow. that is it.

I made these plant stands out of tomato frames mounted in concrete, they work great. I wish I had used casting plastic as the concrete is porous. This makes them harder to clean.

Easy fix on the concrete would be to cover it with epoxy heck some Killz paint would also do the job

I have nothing but time on my hands. So I can put forth plenty of effort. My tent is. 2x4x5 so I don’t have a lot of space.

My last grow pretty much was a failure. So I’m after some weight this time around. I’m ver comfortable with LST , and have produced some good weight that way. With

My tent being so short I can only assume bending them over is the best bet. Maybe I could just use the netting to make sure the branches stay apart. I don’t want another low weight harvest.

You are generally rewarded by practicing what you know works for you. I have never stopped marveling at how resilient this plant is. I rather enjoy watching them grow.

What happened?

I’m learning indoors auto’s autopots, & coco coir. As a old school outdoor guy I just felt as if I should add some nutes to the coco and blended in some EWC in and that was a big mistake @emtomed walk me through it and the beginning of this one so now things are going good. I don’t want to screw this grow up and if scrog’n isn’t good I don’t want to do it. LST always been good to me. Was thinking scrog’n would add some weight and fun I figured why not. It’s all good your comment may have saved me from another screw up so thank you

You have to realize this is farming and a million things can and will go wrong. Farmers learn and keep going because the harvest is so sweet.

Perhaps just let a couple plants grow they know what they are doing.

Regarding SCROG, LST, HST, etc. options vs. just let the plant grow (also a viable option): ’

Also a lazy grower, besides some stupidly simple LST/bending branches when young, maybe topping (just takes a few seconds), when it gets to say 14-18 inches I often just bend it over, tie it down on its side, and then maybe add more simple LST. There is hardly any actual work, time, expertise, decision making, nothing to buy, etc. involved with this approach. It generally works very well.

Valid point, but my tent is short with light and fan it’s basically 4ft of available space. One of my outdoor girls last summer was push 5ft. So if that happens I would have to super crop the top. I am still learning auto’s and from what I’ve read they don’t like to be super cropped. If I’m wrong please tell me. If I’m wrong please tell me cause you know how the internet is lol

I supercrop autos all of the time when needed. No problems!

You’re lucky if you have to super crop tops. I wouldn’t consider it a problem at all.

Otherwise as you imply, does super cropping autos, simply bending stems while retaining most functional xylem and phloem tissues with rapid repair, actually slow down or otherwise decrease plant harvest quantity or quality? I’m not aware that it does.

@Man-O-Green & @BII ok that interesting so I could LST ( just bending branches ) and if it get to tall super crop the top. Well shucks that sounds cool to me

Or rather as I describe, do some basic LST early, bend/tie down the whole plant when gets sufficient nodes/branches (tall enough), and then if you’re really lucky, do any super cropping as needed.

I just LST the bushy one this morning going to let the other grow to the netting and start pushing it through the scrog

Looks great!

Most people I know that scrog autos still bend them over so they can bush out. That is the first step before the net is ever introduced, getting rid of that single dominant cola is essential if you want to train your auto wide. Tie it down and keep it down!
