Some seeds have really hard shells that get herder with age. You should try scuffing them up a little to help with water penetration. Just roll up some sandpaper with the rough part on the inside and shake the seeds inside plugging the ends with your thumb and forefinger for 10-30seconds. It helps with older seeds if that’s the issue. You can also glue some sand paper to he inside of a matchbox and shake the seeds inside that. Same end result but you have a reusable tool.
I did think about buying some of these after the failed ALK… but I’m a fan of the K.I.S.S. Method. And “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”
I’ve heard of this and I’ve never tried it.
Maybe I should have? But I also feel like when you pay over $100 for a 7 pack of seeds… the extra steps shouldn’t be necessary.
Maybe I’m spoiled though lol
Keep an eye on the white gen 3 in early flower, i was told it likes to throw a few balls sometimes, but just in early flower. Pick em off if you happen to see any and you’ll be fine. It only happens in early flower if it does at all. I think @TheDalaiFarmer told me, who is the resident expert on the White from @SAWNEY-BEAN !
I’m hitting it with STS regardless ![]()
The game plan was to cross the White Gen 3 with the Auto Lemon Kix.
“Lemmon Posset F1 by Simply Nuggets” coming soon ![]()
(I hope)
I have a feeling they will make it right.
Hoping I hear from them Monday or Tuesday. (Thinking they may have taken the weekend off!)
Fair enough.
I spoke to soon.
Just received a very long message from them.
Essentially, it gives me their full germination guide, and several videos that would be useful to someone who did not really know how to germinate.
The only real difference between the method they used and the method that I used (and they require me to use their method on the new seeds so that way there if anything goes wrong, they will replace again)
Is that instead of a paper towel they use two small cotton makeup pads.
So that is what I will be doing with the new ones, just to ensure I am doing it to their standard.
Stay tuned!
But in my book, they fully made this right so far.
There you go! And that cotten-pad germination works as fine as all the other methods - even it’s maybe not our personal favorite method. Nice you got things sorted in a good way. May these new beans work in your favour…
That’s what’s up!
I remember reading the warranty info from Mephisto, it was weird. To qualify you have to document the entire germ process and do it exactly to their method(the paper towel method), and then if anything goes wrong you have to submit the documentation of said entire process to qualify for any refunds or replacements. They also have a weird percentage rule that essentially makes it so they don’t guarantee the 1+1 packs.
I just went to check and I guess they don’t guarantee anything anymore ![]()
And side bar (not putting it in the main post because it’s not part of the OG setup outlined there.)
One of the plants in the bathroom (Auto Candy Bubatz) was not getting enough room or light, being dwarfed by another plant.
So I stripped off all of the Rockwool that didn’t have roots established in it, and planted it in soil and stuck it outside!
If you hung a couple ropes across each other in a cross pattern you could use that bin as a res and have a sick as bottom feed wick setup!
Game plan is just top feed hand water all my soil girls.
I miss the intimate connection I get from doing that.
Auto pots and DWC/ drip systems are fun. But there is just something to be said for the old school hand watering I started with.
I do all hand watering , however I wouldn’t mind of some were automated. Time will tell , I feel like I am constantly evolving in the way I grow. These days to change anything, two or three requirements have to be met. One, has to produce results at least as good as what I’m already doing. Two, has to be cheaper than what I’m already doing. Three, has to make life easier. If all three of those are met, I will absolutely be changing what I do.
I feel like I am constantly evolving in the way I grow
I don’t know that I’ve ever run the EXACT same set up twice!
I LOVE trying new things.
however I wouldn’t mind of some were automated
Also, I have to agree with this. Mind you I’ve got two in soil that I will be hand watering right now, and once I get that other auto lemon kicks to start, it will be one more soil
But everything else is basically check on it daily, but only have to put hands on it once a week
Between the custom drip DWC set up and Auto pots… I’m spoiled ![]()
Nuggs mate, can we please have another look in the 2.5m tent now nuggs ??.. how many days now nuggs mate ??.. what age are they now ??..you stated PK yet etc ??? wanna see how the lemon Kix is doing now… the auto pots, i use myself… except i lift the pot of the bottom of the autopot tray, using a 30mm deep plant round tray with vent hole for the water to get in, and the bottom of the autopot 15ltr square pot, has 3x 30mm wide double “Wicks” up into the soil by 25cm, and it goes down into the tray 60mm to pick up, wick up water to the soil… Why do this ???.. IT LETS OXYGEN INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE PLANT MEDIUM, and it is not sitting in water, that can go anaerobic, inside the pot, and produces hydrogen sulphide, that the plants aint keen on !! no oxygen areas in soil go anaerobic.. plus the acidic sulphides kill off the bacto beneficial soil communities, and the MYCRYZAL mycelium FUNGI… for this i use Agriton EM1… agri soi treatment… steeped with the mollasses… feeds the bacto coms and mycillium combo thriving in the soil, as long as its 23c or above, soil temp… Autoberry ex Henk DP team, (DP Show Grower)…
Nuggs mate, can we please have another look in the 2.5m tent now nuggs ??.
Hey @Autoberry!
I update this thread every day!
So right now we are only on day 7 (I have not made my post for the day yet, so day six is the last update)
If you go to the top of the journal, there is a table of contents that will allow you to select to the latest day!
Make sure you check back for regular updates!
IT LETS OXYGEN INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE PLANT MEDIUM, and it is not sitting in water, that can go anaerobic, inside the pot
And my Auto Pots have the “Air Dome” in them with a dedicated pump to push fresh oxygen continuously to the root zone!
Blessed to have a Show Grower from DP visiting my journal!
I look forward to any questions comment or criticism from you!
