do you have ALL the sticky traps out?
Whenever I see a gnat, I’ll put out an overkill amount of them.

It started back with the 5gal pots and I had a trap in each pot. Actually half a trap cause I cut them in half. So 8 pots all with traps and Ive been keeping them in the 2 big pots too. Recently like the last 2 weeks I havent had them tho. Ran out and need to buy some more. I know all the methods to deal with them its just not working for me.

I use 99% iso sprayed out of an ac infinity electric sprayer on the worm bin. I spray the lid and side walls with the finest mist possible which also gives the top bedding a little mist too. The iso evaporates super fast and dries those little fuckers out killing them. I just dont want to be spraying the soil. Itd more than likely evaporate so quick itd be “okay” but I dont want to risk it with the soil and plants.

Dude I’m telling you, nematodes, you can even soak the live ones in water and spray, they will kill any bugs the water touches! That plus 2 applications two weeks apart along with BTI will do it I swear! Get live from Arbico Organics and get Pot poppers from Amazon! If you dose the soil, spray and double dose with the pot poppers twice with 2 wks between doses it will kill them all! And because they are microscopic you can split them infinantly between containers and they will multiply. The worse the infestation the faster they multiply. When all bad bugs are eradicated they will die off!

Diatomaceous earth? I also used that. I went all out but haven’t seen a gnat in over a year and I still preventatively run nematodes every 6 months or so

I never used anything but yellow sticky gnat traps for the adults. They only live for a few days anyway. If there are no larvae to make new adults the whole colony disappears pretty quick. Gnatrol top-watered in every 5 days has been very effective here (1 t./GL). Two or three times, mixed into the regular feedings, 5 days apart, and that was it. I’m more careful now about coming inside after visiting the outside garden so I don’t bring in any new garden pests.

I didnt think about just applying to the top of the straw until just now. That might work!

That’s actually the opposite of what’s true. Nematodes need a moist environment, not just to live but that’s how they travel, thru water. You want nice moist soil and no drying out to be most effective!

Apply nematodes everywhere! Drench the soil with them and then spray more on the topsoil and even in the plant if they can sprayed without risk of mold like while in flower. Any bug nematode water touches will get eaten alive from the inside. They are microscopic so they enter thru the poreson bugs bodies
Gotcha, my bad, but yeah I dusted the top soil with de I dusted the floor around them and even the lowest part of the plant where no buds were gonna grow
Ive been pondering on my gnat problem. Ive got a whole list of beneficial critters Im planning to use to jump start my living soil beds when I get to that stage. If I buy them now I could put them in the worm bin and have a beneficial bugs farm going too. Anytime I used castings from the bin Id also be getting all the critters.
