Nice growing dude! Haven’t stopped by in a minute. I’m with @Mara_Cachafa , I haven’t got the space, or time to put in the effort like you do but it is satisfying to watch.
Did you get gnats in the soil or the hydro?
We’ve started doing an actual “integrated” in IPM for soil plants. Houseplants mostly but whenever we pot, up-size, or repot we’ve been mixing in some mosquito bits. It’s BTI coated pieces of corn.
We don’t soak or anything, blend some straight into the soil itself. Haven’t seen gnats in a while.
These things - I think you can get them at homedepot, lowes, and usually pond or garden stores. Shouldn’t have to order them but sometimes it’s just damn easier to order from Amazon.
Gnatrol is a more concentrated form of BT bacteria, 32% i think. It’s in a soluble powder form that goes through irrigation pumps easily. If you mix it into warm water with your nutes it propagates overnight making the water cloudy with live BT. The first application kills the larvae (but not the eggs). A second application 5 or 7 days later after the eggs hatch, and that’s it. I’ve been using 1 teaspoon per gallon, watering in from the top. If I ever see another gnat I do it again. Shelf life is supposedly a year, but mine is a few years old and still worked last year. @WildBill has another brand that’s even more concentrated, but I can’t find it.
Yeah gnats in the soil. I started with a bag of the bits and then bought gnatrol wdg 3000. I watered for 6 weeks in a row with it but it only decreased the population. I think with 8 pots and plants there was just too many spots for adults to hide and lay eggs, couldnt break the cycle.
Yeah, the gnatrol is good stuff. Sucks you had so many you couldn’t reel them in better. Bleh multiple doses over several weeks should have been enough!
If you’re loading up pots again I found mixing the bits helped before it became a problem. I learn all sorts of shit here from people posting random replies.
I let the top of the pots dry out after harvesting. That got rid of 95% of the problem and Ive been putting a couple tsp of bti in my weekly drench. I see a couple of those bastards here and there but Im on the winning side at this point.
I havent smoked any of it yet so lets not jump the gun. It does look pretty good tho! I think the strain has way more potential. Next time I’ll get it right.
The soil gushers hasnt done much since the last defol session. I went a little heavy on her. The blumat also leaked about 2.5gal of water thru the pot because I didn’t dial it back when doing the drench. User error. The pot has been borderline anaerobic all week. I’ve been making small adjustments everyday to get it back in range but it’s been a little bit of a struggle.
Not huge changes with her but shes packed on a little weight in the last couple days. Also got the pot into the right mbar range finally. Shes in the middle of week 6 so Im hoping she takes advantage of the better conditions and swells some more in the following days.
