Been a good minute since a hydro gusher update. Day 52 of flower. Waiting until day 10 of flower to super crop and schwazz is definitely too late. Small buds, underdeveloped leaves, and even single blade leaves. Shes still going to be a nice little harvest. Shes looking like a good candidate for the press. I’ll have to make sure not to get lazy and press her right after drying this time.

I think if you want to adapt the 420method to photoperiods, you should do all the heavy training pre flower. I really think you’d have better luck just regular old scrogging. The 420autoflower method was specifically developed for autoflowers. Photos in flower like to focus on flower. Autoflowers are great multi taskers. Better than photos

All that training isn’t necessary in flower, if you just do it while in veg you’re good and can focus on pumping those yields, just set your net where you want it above your pot or container and start training from day one under the net. When the canopy is completely full then you flip. Then you’ll see those yields bro

The motivation is the boss man once said he wanted to try to get 1-2lbs from a photo in roughly 100 days. That he hadnt heard of anyone doing that. The method is originally for autos but a bunch of the core mechanics carry over to photos.
Time is the main issue with vegging under the net. You’ll be continuously slowing the plant down training her. Lookin at minimum of 4 weeks good veg but probably avg 5+. Id imagine one could maybe pull 1-2lb with normal scrogging if everything feel in line perfectly. The right plant and all that.
The reason you super crop and schwazz during stretch is to combine the hormones resulting in a huge burst of growth in a short time frame. The first 3 weeks of flower is still about structure and the plant is naturally producing growth hormones to “stretch” into the final structure for supporting the buds. Then we the grower basically murder the plant causing it to go into survival mode. Shes saying “I have to empty the reserves and floor it. I have to recover and do everything I can to reproduce before its too late.” Combining these hormones and the defoliation in the first 3 weeks of flower are where the magic happens. Sometimes the stretch lasts 4-5 weeks with autos and the method.
I think a really good 3 weeks worth of veg on the right plant and you drop the net on her day 3-5 of flower, that 1-2lb in 100 days will be easy work. Its about finding the right timing.

So the soil gushers did what I asked her to and bulked up a noticeable amount in 3 days. I was worried some of those colas werent going to turned out very well. They arent going to be monsters but Im feeling better about her now. Also getting a little frost on her.
The bad news is in the last pic. You can see shes getting a little pale in some places. Got a little bleaching for the first time too. Those tops were within 4 or 5 inches of the lights, I just left them until it was a problem. Raised the lights a handful of inches. The paleness could be from the light intensity but Im worried the pots running out of juice. I’ll have a better idea with time, whatever it is shes close enough to the down hill coast that I think she’ll be okay.

Day 21 of flower for the fruity pebbles. Today marks the end of stretch and the plant switches to building buds. This switch means she gets a heavy defol to expose all the buds. Not really a schwazz but I took a lot of material off her.

18 days ago, beginning of stretrch, I topdressed the pebbles with a 50/50 mix. I spaced off and missed my mark by a few days I shouldve done it 24 days back. Anyways the idea is that she gets access to the topdress right as shes settling in to the stretch and burning energy.
6 days back I gave her a fresh ewc extract. Took a handful of ewc from my bin put it in a mesh bag then dunked and massaged it for a few minutes until the water was a nice dark brown. Since the ewc is from my bin its very active with life. The extract is full of protozoa, the tiny predators that hunt down our precious microbes. This is a good thing though, when the microbes die they release all the nutrients they had stored inside them, it creates a flood of available nutes.
Today Im giving her another topdress of a flower mix. Again the idea here is to be ahead of the plant. She doesnt need these nutes but I want them to be broken down and plant available for week 5&6 swell. She also got an extra full dose of microbes in the cocktail just as a safety net from the ewc extract last week.
Ended up getting about 10 or so worms in the pot. They wont do a whole lot for this run but they might have their numbers up enough to do a bunch of good next run.
The leaves that I left on her are standing tall today like nothing even happened. Starting early with the trichomes. I think this one is going to be a treat.

I use an EWC slurry myself at times. I’m not a fan of “compost teas” as the concept is flawed, in that you might make a few million microbes in it but they will then have to compete with the BILLIONS per cubic centimeter! Whereas just blending EWC, compost etc in water and using immediately is a great way to give some feed while your top dressing has time to be consumed by the micro life.

Shes not a frost monster but the trichome coverage has gotten better this past week. Hoping she turns it up a notch in that department as she finishes.
I havent mentioned it but if anyone is wondering whats up with the bottom right cola, the fan slide down the pole and gave it a wet trim. 
It happened in the beginning of flower sometime, not much damage except the leaves.

Hydro gushers is real close to getting the final week of the heavy 16 feed schedule. Im going to check trichs after I get done here and see where we’re at. I took like 6-7 side shots and the flash refused to be any brighter than this.

Fruity pebbles is stacking and filling in the gaps fairly well. This is my first plant where the trichomes cover the fans like she is. The GWK had some of it but not like this and its still early for Miss Pebbles.

Is it just me or does the soil gushers have significantly larger cola than the Hydro? (Like 15-20%)
Clearly the Hydro has more, but I don’t know if it’s just photo angle or my perception being off, but it appears the soil is fatter.

You are correct some of the soil colas are 3x the size of the hydro colas. Even the small soil colas compare to the hydro ones. Im interested in the weights, the hydro buds feel nice and dense. I mean so do the soil buds but they are a handful of days behind the hydro so they might finish real dense too. My guess is the soil will be the bigger yield too.
They were completely different plants from the start but the hydro girl got the super crop and net on day 10 of flower and the soil got it on day 3 of flower. Day 10 is way too late for a photo due to them having a much tighter stretch phase. Basically all the stress, almost right in the middle of the stretch, caused her to be kinda “weird”. Her development got interrupted at the worst time.
