This from @Man-O-Green 's cookbook?

The meat shop caught me on a $17/pound snow crab legs deal; picked up 2 pounds and a box of cheddar bay biscuit mix.

Well, at least I got something accomplished today!
Yay for me!
I got my new mower drive belt replaced on my Bad Boy Mower… A sticker on it says Willie Nelson loves this mower! You know damn well he hasn’t used one of these mowers!

It was the first time I had changed it, the other one completely failed. It was real easy to get to but for one thing. Trying to find a pry on belt tensioner was impossible.
I did figure out a real simple way and it makes it easy as possible. I just took a small ratchet strap and hook one end to the tensioner arm and the other to the back bumper of the mower and Ratcheted it down until I could slip it over one of the outer pulleys.
I have a fresh set of blades, but I had some nasty work to do first. The state contractors, for mowing roadside, really screwed up my easement. It was pretty rough. I also had to mow very low on the edges of my driveway leading into the property and throughout it. A lot of grass had encroached on the rock road.

It wasn’t without drama though! :man_facepalming: I almost burnt my lawn mower down!
I misjudged for the culvert was and one of the wheels dropped off, which lifted one of the drive wheels and the other could get enough traction.
I quickly shut it off, get off and stand there and figure how’s getting it out. No more than 20 seconds I figured strap to the back of the truck would be the easiest method and started heading off to pick it up. For some reason I turned around and saw smoke. It seems that the muffler was against a bunch of them good old pine needles. :man_facepalming:
It was just in awkward spot to get to! I was trying to knock it with a stick and finally got it to a point where it was barely smoldering before I went inside and got some water to douse it out. Truck got it out with no problem at all and finished up the inside mowing of the road after that.
I’m gonna change blades tomorrow and get mowed what I can before I get the guys to come out remove some tree parts and limbs.

Allergy meds did absolutely no good.

I was bound and determined to get to this spot today. Sure as hell didn’t feel like it was going to be possible this morning when I woke up! :man_facepalming: I mixed some of that RSO in my coffee and it helped take the pain edge off a bit. I know I’m gonna pay for it though! that median was just rough as hell! :man_facepalming:
They mowed it the last of the season and got it so damn rough it’s pathetic. This was the first mowing of it this season, so if I could keep them off of it, it’ll smooth out some.

I’m gonna go soak in some Epsom salt so maybe the swelling won’t be some bad around the vertebrae.

Y’all have fun

I just apply the top dress on the straw and it falls through the cracks and makes its way to the soil after a watering or two. Great option BTW

Yeah, my wife really likes the soup and hasn’t had a good one in a long tine so I figured why not. I’ll hopefully have a little for Taco meat too.

It’s best first try to shake it down into the top of the media with your hand and fingers.
And then you can moisten everything down.
That way you’ll be able to moisten your top dressing without over watering in trying to push it through the straw. If you don’t water it down enough you can have some that is still just in the straw and not in the media or on top of the media. That can DRY out and be worthless to you.
Are you mixing all your top dressings together then applying it or are you doing it in layers?
I like to lay down my earthworm castings first and work them in a little bit. I kind of want all that activity from the earthworm castings well in contact of that old top layer under the straw. I do mix my other dry ingredients with my compost. It helps to more evenly distribute them.
My reasoning behind the multiple layers is for a more mix of different texture in the top dressing area to prevent any sort ‘sealing off’ as the top dressing layer compacts and settles.

Does that make sense?

I bought my first house with the ex wife in 98 and paid $132,000 for a 1400 sqft built in 51 on a 5000 sqft lot with no AC. My wife and I bought a 2900 sqft on 5 acres in 07 for significantly more. I’m cashing out, retiring and moving out your way. I’ll see you next winter on the drag strip with my new sled.
