Gold glue is still alive but not much happening on the surface. I’m guessing all the action is underground and she is rebuilding roots. You can barely see the tiny trues in there and they are getting bigger just slowly.
Strawberry pie is hanging in there. You can see the cotyledons never developed properly from the helmet head. Those first trues are slowly growing tho.
Dont follow my example of rockwool in soil. Ive been fighting with these kids about water since putting them in the soil. The mbap was completely limp on the ground 2 days ago. Overall the whole batch just arent off to the start I expected.
I left the top of the cubes exposed to air thinking it would help with oxygen. Turns out its wicking the moisture away from the seedlings and allowing it to evaporate. So make sure to fully bury the cubes when putting them in soil
Probably just a weirdly developed leaf. In my experience, it is very common with autos but will usually correct itself by the third or fourth set of leaves to come up. If it doesn’t and leaves continue to look funky or odd, then you probably have a mutant. I’ve only had a couple muties, but I see the weird first couple leaves on a bunch of auto plants, from all breeders I’ve used. My brain tells me it’s just really aggressive genetics trying to get acclimated to to the new environment. Never seen it on photoperiods tho, like where it corrects itself after a few leaves. I have seen mutants come up but that’s a different thing.
The cookies is getting active. Shes been killing the res. Ive done 2 full changes in the last 72hrs. The 24hrs after the change she crushes the res. Yesterday I drained and flushed the res. I mixed 5gal at 2.1ec and 5.9ph. Tonight the res is down maybe 2gal somewhere between 1-2. The ec is 1.5 and ph is 6.7. These are very similar to what she did to the previous fresh batch. These numbers tell me she is devouring the nutes and I need to increase the ec of my fresh mix.
Lights are maxed out. Plus the panels are 100w and theyre at 50%. I’ll be turning them up to the next setting at 75% tomorrow morning so I can monitor the situation throughout the day. My meter is reading foot candels and converted down its 64.8 DLI from the top light. Tent is 75-77f and 55-65 rh%. Trying my best to control the environment without any equipment really. Relying on the lung room and 2 clip fans.
The 5x5 has been a disappointment for me but I’m rolling with it. The goal of this run was to test some variety so I’ll still be able to do that.
Lost the gold glue.
The mbap(center) got fried day 1 and hasn’t recovered. Been nursing her along and she is finally growing her next set of leaves. I would be happy with half oz from her. Just to get a taste test on mbap.
The strawberry soda(bottom left) also got fried and is in worse shape than the mbap. I’ve been nursing her a long too and she hasn’t completely died yet. I’ll keep caring for her until she makes it or kicks the bucket.
Strawberry pie(bottom right) definitely stalled and is probably stunted but has started to grow the last few days.
The others are doing okay but I feel like they stalled when putting the rockwool into the soil.
Ive wanted to switch nute lines for a while so I’ve been reading up on what’s available out there. I found the heavy 16 line and on paper it looks like the best fit for my goals. Reviews are also solid. So instead of dry salts I picked up the heavy line yesterday.
Did the res flush and added the first batch of heavy 16 plus microbial mass at 2.7 EC and it came out to 5.6 pH. It’s recommended not to adjust pH with this line so I left it. This morning about 7.5hrs later and EC is 1.9 and pH is 6.5. No signs of stress from the change and those res numbers say she’s taking the nute swap well. Next move is to mix 1-2gal of concentrated nutes to bring the EC back up and that will also bring the pH down.
Im chasing flavor and thc/trichome production. I want the best of both worlds. Hydro development with organic soil taste. This heavy 16 is a little pricey but on paper and reviews its said to do that.
I really thought you quoted me for a second there.
I’ve been looking around at a bunch of different kinds, but I’ve been wanting to try Athena just because of how clean I have heard it is and I’ve also heard good things
But I also see a bunch of people talking about how it is garbage and overpriced. Have you ever used it?
I havent used it but I looked into it on a surface level. That clean youre talking about doesnt necessarily translate to the flavor most of us are chasing. It does mean less chemical flavor tho. The flavor we are all chasing comes from organic interactions and there really isnt any way around that.
I couldnt think of the term so I had to look it up.
Terroir Expression: Similar to wine, cannabis grown in living soil reflects its environment (“terroir”), allowing for more distinct and authentic flavor profiles that are often muted in sterile, synthetic environments.
